The government decided to give small clothing and toy manufacturers a break, at least for one year. They do not have to get their products tested as long as they self-inspect their products and make sure there are no small parts, painted pieces that could have lead, or could harm a child in any way.

2. Full-size and non full-size cribs and pacifiers – effective for products made after January 20, 2009;
3. Small parts – ban is effective for products made after February 15, 2009; and
4. Children’s jewelry – The limits on lead content of metal components effective for products made after March 23, 2009.
